Appearance:
The Alocasia Macrorrhiza, also known as, 'Black Stem' is known for its large showy leaves with contrasting colors of bright green and dark purple. as this plant matures, the deep hues with range between dark purple and almost black, the Veins match the stems. Maturing upwards of 5 feet tall with leaves around 2.5 feet long, this alocasia gets big!
Ideal Growing Conditions:
This Alocasia thrives in bright, indirect light and appreciates a warm, humid environment that mimics its tropical origins. Keep the soil consistently moist but well-draining, and avoid letting it fully dry out. Humidity levels above 60% are ideal, making it a great candidate for a humidifier or placement in a naturally humid space. Protect it from direct harsh sunlight, which can scorch the delicate variegated portions of its leaves, and bring it indoors if temperatures drop below 60°F.

Black Stem Alocasia is characterized by its large, upright, emerald-green leaves that are held on thick, rigid, and dark black stems. The deep black color is also present in the veins of the leaves, creating a dramatic contrast.
