(Botanical Name: Alocasia x orda (G.Lodd) Spach, Common Name: Orda Alocasia)
Appearance:
Alocasia odora, or the Night-Scented Lily, is uniquely characterized by its fragrant night-blooming flowers that emit a sweet, strong scent. It also features large, glossy, upright, heart-shaped leaves that grow on sturdy stalks, creating a dramatic, lush appearance. This species is notable for its heat and humidity tolerance, making it a good candidate for warm climates and humid indoor environments.
Ideal Growing Conditions:
This Alocasia thrives in partial, to full shade and appreciates a warm, humid environment that mimics its tropical origins. Keep the soil consistently moist but well-draining, and avoid letting it fully dry out. Humidity levels above 60% are ideal, making it a great candidate for a humidifier or placement in a naturally humid space. Protect it from direct harsh sunlight, which can scorch the delicate variegated portions of its leaves, and bring it indoors if temperatures drop below 60°F.
Unique Qualities:
Features large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves and is known for its strong fragrance, especially at night.
Note About Variation:
Please note that each Orda Alocasia is unique, leaf size will vary based on individual growth and seasonal availability.
